Fan Retractor

Use of an articulating fan retractor is a relatively simple, cost-effective and easily accessible instrument that allows the surgeon to gain improved retraction and exposure in what is an otherwise technically challenging dissection.These retractors are used to retract liver, stomach, spleen, or bowel whenever they interfere in vision or they come in way of other working instruments. There are many newer varieties of retractors available which are less traumatic.Retractors are used to hold an incision or wound open while a surgeon works. The retractor could also be used to hold tissues or organs out of the way during a surgery. Self-retaining retractors allow hands free operation during a surgery.Skin hooks and regular retractors are preferred in most plastic surgery procedures, since they allow for precise tissue manipulation during the procedure and, because of their design, do not crush tissue during retraction. They may have single, double or triple prongs with sharp or blunt tips.
